Tropical Traditions 100% natural Shredded Coconut, Coconut Flakes, and Coconut Chips are made from organic dried coconuts in the Philippines that are grown with no fertilizers or pesticides. This premium dried coconut contains no additives or preservatives, and is not sweetened. Unlike most dried coconut on the market, their dried coconut products are not treated with sulfites to keep them white. They are a great addition to recipes and baking, or just for snacks!




I was given the opportunity to review a 560z bucket of shredded coconut from Tropical Traditions. Note that there are two other types of coconut available which include coconut flakes and coconut chips, both are different in size and more suitable for toppings and adding to things like your own trail mix, etc.



The coconut I choose to review is more suitable for things like macaroons, shrimp, or in my case Coconut cake! The coconut came in a bucket which is resealable. I had a little trouble getting it open and closed without the use of a hammer and my husband but no worries. This means the coconut is sealed very tightly keeping it fresh for quite a while unlike the kind you’ll find in the grocery store in a plastic bag and pre-sweetened. Tropical Traditions makes it easy for coconut to become part of your regular diet. This GINORMOUS tub of shreds only costs $17 (and they often have sales or deals where you can get other products free, if you’re subscribed to their email list). I could only get 2 or 3 little baggies of it from the gourmet shop for that price. So you can stop treating it like a “special treat” or an exotic ingredient (am I the only one who does that with expensive foods?), and start USING it.
